“I see the light as well as shadows in the world. Both stories are worth telling about.”
After showing his first short in the Camerimage festival, Olaf received an offer to work as a cameraman in a pre-war Syria. It was his 3rd year in film school, and he spent 120 days on a desert working on a war film. He says this experience has taught him the craft in the hard, but the finest way.
Working with various artists who represented a whole scope of cinematic styles, Olaf broaden his horizons making docs, features, music videos and commercials. In his films, he searches for nuances, but the clarity of the artistic vision is of an utmost importance.
When making films, he turns into his ‘magical thinking’ mode that doesn’t work that well in everyday situations.
